Well no, not if you look at pricepoint, release dates and such, but it might be if you look at quality since we usualy have both the US and Japan beta testing early consoles and other hardware.
However, Europe realy is the main Sony territory if you look at revenue and sales, yep that´s right, Eu is now the nr.1 income and sales territory for Sony, and that´s not just talking about the lovely Ps3.

Sony will distribute it´s movies online in divx
Sony Pictures Television announced today that online retailers will soon be able to offer Sony content for download in DivX format. The news came as part of a partnership with DivX, Inc. that will also let those files be playable on DivX Certified devices. "We are dedicated to finding legitimate outlets for our content and to that end are excited to be working with DivX to provide retailers with an expanded ecosystem for the digital distribution and playback of our digital media," said Sony Pictures executive VP of Digital Distribution & Mobile Entertainment, Michael Arrieta.

SanDisk Sansa to support DivX video
A spokesperson for DivX, Kristina Weise, told Ars that this would offer consumers high-quality Hollywood content in DivX for the first time ever, and that the deal would cover "all titles in the Sony Pictures Television library." She also said that all titles would be download-to-own, but that there will be some type of unspecified DRM. Tracking down those DivX Sony movies might be a challenge, though. "We have no announcements with retailers at this time," she told us.

Great news for both users and Sony, one more step in the right direction for Sony whom seems to have been on fire lately and the last few weeks Sony seems to have been doing everything right.

First and last hd.dvd from New line cinema
And the answer is Pan´s labyrinth, it was released by the end of 2007 and it will mark history as the first and last hd.dvd release by New line cinema, all their other movies, past and future ones will only see the light of day on Blu-ray and good ol dvd.
I cant wait for lotr to hit blu-ray and later on the two new hobbit movies, great times ahead for hd movie lovers.
Besides, has anyone noticed that sony demoed that you´ll be able to backup your blu-ray movies on your ps3 and further take that backup with you on your psp or a memory card, great news and times indeed for movie lovers, legal and easy to do backups is great.

Europe, sales chart
From the week ending 16 December sales in Europe was as follows.
Weekly
Wii 349,770
Ps3 257,325
Ps2 237,696
Psp 214,993
x360 172,401
Which brings Playstation 3 to 3,037,110 sold units in Europe.
The best selling active console in totals is still the ps2 with 45,354,391 sold units in Europe and since it´s still outselling the x360 Sony doesnt seem like it´s about to loose it´s crown here in Eu, especialy not now when the ps3 is steadily outselling the box aswell.
Which reminds me, that means that worldwide, the x360 is yet again last in line when it comes to sales out of the three new consoles (wii,ps3 and x360), sadly tho, alot of media is so NA focused that it´s still reporting ps3 to hold that not so intriguing last in line spot when it comes to sales per week.
Well the world is more then Usa and Canada and even tho we love those countries, worldwide sales are far more important then North american sales only, which odly enough doesnt seem to be how some view things.

Swedish sales chart, games week 49
1. Singstar Svenska hits Schlager (PS2)
2. Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock (PS2)
3. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
4. High School Musical: Sing It! (PS2)
5. Singstar Svenska hits (PS2)
6. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC)
7. The Sims 2 Jorden Runt (PC)
8. Singstar (PS3)
9. Need for Speed Prostreet (PS2)
10. Uncharted Drake´s Fortune (PS3)
And the world seems to be evolving around, Singstar, undoubtedly a more then succesful franchise in Europe and a top ten chart that must be pretty enjoyable from Sony´s perspective atleast, to bad not that many singstar 3 mic bundles made it out before christmas, pretty sure that lowered initial sales for Singstar 3 since we had to seek and destroy just to find one single copy of singstar 3 with microphones.

GT5P, 39 out of 40 by famitsu
Yep, it´s a demo (the third one actually) of a game that´s due out sometime in 2008 and still famitsu the world famous mag, known for it´s to the point reviews, which will cause a pack of gamers to buy or sidestep games give´s it an unheard of 39 out of 40 score.
Compare that to forza 2 getting 36/40, which of course by famitsus standards still is a realy good score.
This most likely means ps3 will propell it´s sales up, up and away for december in Japan, great little christmas present for the playstation 3 and polyphony digital.

Sony pummels the competition for a greener world
Yep they do.
Greenpeace released recent figures covering how companies care for the environment and how their products impact their users and the environments.
Sony came out on top with a 7.3 score, their products are toxic free and recyclable and Sony even endorse you to give back your old stuff.
Microsoft on the other hand makes good use of harmful chemicals in their products so bevare of green childrens if you´re planing to give away a x360 this christmas and thus recieved an abysmal 2.7 score.
Nintendo? Well the company targeting younger then young kids in their adverts, forcing their parents to buy a wii through the might that is kids, well it´s of no surprise to see that they are the worst ever.. Nintendo scored an unheard of zero points, it´s never ever happened before in greenpeaces history.
So here´s the scores for the big 3 in black and white.
Sony - the green giant, whom cares for you and the earth, 7.3
Microsoft - beware of poision, 2.7
Nintento - ouch, Nintendo is on their way to global disintegration, so i recon they must be working for aliens, 0
